Our Approach
At Bright Bay Design, we specialise in interior planning, design and furnishings coordination for care homes across the UK.
Established in 2009, the practice has developed a strong track record in delivering thoughtful, well-coordinated interior schemes that support both day-to-day care delivery and long-term commercial positioning.
Our work combines sector understanding with practical design expertise, helping care providers and developers create environments that are durable, intuitive and visually reassuring for residents, families and staff.
Our Story
Founded in 2009 by Alexandra Ledger, Bright Bay Design brings together more than 30 years of experience in contract interiors, including 20 years specialising in the care sector.
Over the years, we’ve developed a deep understanding of how thoughtfully designed environments can positively shape everyday life, support operational efficiency and strengthen the identity of a care home.
From new builds to complex refurbishments, every project is carefully tailored to the individual setting, resident needs and care philosophy of the home.
We believe great design should feel welcoming, practical and enduring — creating spaces that residents, staff and visitors genuinely enjoy spending time in.
How We Work
Thinking Beyond Completion
We believe successful care environments require ongoing consideration beyond the initial project phase.
As homes evolve over time, operators are often faced with refurbishment decisions, changing resident requirements and the challenge of maintaining consistency across environments and portfolios.
For some clients, this has led to longer-term working relationships where we continue to provide strategic guidance and environmental support beyond individual projects.
This may include phased refurbishment planning, environmental reviews, procurement guidance and ongoing interior consultancy tailored to operational needs.
Our Values
People First
We design with the lived experience of residents and the practical needs of staff at the forefront. Care environments must feel intuitive, reassuring and comfortable — spaces that support dignity, independence and everyday life.
Presentation with Purpose
We understand that how a home looks influences how it feels — and how it is perceived. Well-considered interiors enhance confidence for residents and families while strengthening the home’s position within its local market.
Thoughtful Coordination
Successful projects rely on clarity and collaboration. By becoming involved early and working closely with the wider project team, we help ensure interior decisions are aligned, considered and seamlessly integrated.
Independent & Considered
As an independent practice, we are free to specify what is genuinely right for each project. Our recommendations are guided by long-term suitability, durability and design integrity — not supplier ties.
Relationships Built on Trust
We value open communication and steady, dependable delivery. Many of our projects come from repeat clients — partnerships built over time through consistency, care and shared understanding.
Our Experience
Over the past 15 years, we have delivered more than 50 care home interior projects nationwide, spanning both new build developments and refurbishment programmes.
This experience has allowed us to develop a detailed understanding of the operational, regulatory and commercial considerations unique to the care sector. From early interior planning through to coordinated furnishings installation, our involvement is shaped by practical knowledge and long-term sector commitment.
Many of our projects are undertaken with repeat clients — a reflection of the collaborative relationships we build and the consistency of delivery we strive to maintain.
